Promise me you’ll always remember: you’re braver than you believe, stronger than you seem and smarter than you think.

Hello Loves!

Kiki~Jane turned 18 today, that means that we’re both 18 now.  Since we have been living for 18 years now, we’ve also learned some life lessons. Which we’d like to share with you:

1. It’s okay to be you.
Everyone is different, and although not everyone will accept you for who you truly are it is important to be yourself so that you are at least happy with who you are. Besides, if you are yourself, you will find people who want to hang out with you for who you are and not because you are acting like someone you are not.

2. It’s important to be honest with yourself and others.
Honesty is the most important policy. If you’re not honest with yourself or others, you might end up regretting things.  It might be rough at first when you tell the truth to people, but eventually everything will be okay. And they will appreciate the fact that you’ve told the truth.

3. You do not need to stress about every tiny little thing in life.
Life is a funny thing. It has lots of ups & down, is filled with laughter & tears.  We have habit of stressing about everything. However, often it is just a waste of time. Stress is not good for you and a lot of things are not worth stressing over.

4 . You can’t always be right.
Now, we like to be right constantly. But there are so many people in this world, with so many different opinions. Who knows who is actually right? What does being right actually mean? Value everyone’s opinion and if you do not agree with them, it doesn’t mean that you have to disrespect their opinion.

5. Change can be a good thing.
Although change can be a scary thing it doesn’t have to be a bad thing. We often long to change. However we are to afraid to let it in. If you embrace change in your life, it can lead to beautiful destinations. And if it ends up being a bad thing, you can at least learn from it.

6. Don’t force your talents.
Talent is something you possess and can develop. But you shouldn’t force it. If you’re not ready to expose yourself with your skills to the world. Then don’t do it. There is time enough. Don’t expect that you can learn to do something perfectly in just one day. Talents take time.

7. Enjoy the little moments.
There are so many beautiful little moments that you experience everyday, such as drinking a cup of coffee while you’re hearing raindrops falling on your rooftop, or birds singing to each other. Enjoy these little moments more.

8. Your imagination is one of your biggest strengths.
Even though people might make fun of your imagination at times. It is actually one of the most powerful things you possess. With your imagination you can go everywhere in just one second, nothing is too weird, nothing is impossible. It is your escape.

9. Reward yourself with things you love.
There are so many things in life that you do not like to do, such as boring school stuff or going to work at times. However, postponing these things won’t work. Do the boring stuff first and reward yourself with some fun things after. Trust us, it will feel much better.

10. Be kind, everyone has its own story.
Everyone goes through a rough path once in a while. And there are some people whom you do not like and some whom you do like. But not liking people doesn’t mean you have to be unkind. If you are having a shitty day, you would like people to treat you nicely, so do the same with others.

11. Don’t blame the bad moments on everyone else.
Sometimes you make mistakes. Sometimes your life sucks. Sometimes it feels like you are only experiencing bad moments. And all of this sometimes feels like it is caused by someone up there who hates you. But this isn’t true. Nobody wants you to experience these rough moments. And it is not like someone is doing this on purpose. It’s not everyone else’s fault if your life is not going that well. Just learn from your mistakes and try to move on.

12. After rain comes sunshine.
We all experience rough times in our lives. And as cliche this might sound. It does get better. After the rain the sun will shine and you will be happy again.
13. Asking for help is not a weakness, rather a strength.
We want to do everything ourselves, always. And find it difficult to ask for help. However, we’ve learned that it sometimes is in fact better to ask people for help. Together you can get to new destinations, new ideas, new wisdom. Together you can be stronger.

14. Love yourself, before you can let others love you.
If you want to let people in, you have to find a way to love yourself and appreciate yourself first. Nobody can love you if you haven’t accept yourself and if your not happy with yourself. So take some time, if you need to, and embrace yourself.

15. Embrace your insecurities.
We all have insecurities. And they’re not a bad thing. However these insecurities do withhold us from doing certain things. But the trick is to embrace your insecurities, learn from them and grow as a person.

16. Do what you love, love what you do.
It is extremely important to do things you love to do, to surround yourself with people you love and to do what makes you happy. And if you have to do something that you do not like, at least try to make the best of it. Be optimistic, that always helps.

17. Overthinking everything does not get you much further.
We tend to overthink nearly everything. Unfortunately this often leads to nothing. It withholds us from experiencing thing in its fullest ways. Which is a shame. Sometimes things are just the way they are and you have to go with the flow.

18. Not everything is just black or white.
Nothing is just this or just that. Mostly it is something in between, mostly it is gray. Things are way more controversial than one might think. And we have to accept that and don’t judge to fast.

These where the 18 lessons we’ve learned in the past 18 years. We hope they can be a bit helpful for you. And remember, life is a funny thing. Now, we will go back to celebrating Kiki~Jane’s Birthday and we will see you next time.

What is your most important life lesson?

Love,

Kiki~Jane & Lily~Rose
